LAB BILLING PROCESS
All labs ordered by Sanctuary Functional Medicine providers through Quest or LabCorp are billed through our Client Bill Process, rather than with Insurance.
Risk vs Benefit of Insurance Bill vs Client Bill:
o Many insurance companies will not cover the cost of labs ordered by us because we are Functional and Out of Network.
o The insurance price of labs is often 2-6 times our client bill price.
o If you have a deductible to meet, you will be paying that marked up price due to billing through insurance.
o Even if you don’t have a deductible, your copay may still be higher due to the insurance markup as well.
o When billing through insurance, we cannot predict the final cost of labs.
o When billing through our Client Bill Process, you will receive an estimated invoice that is usually within 5-10% of the final charge. This would give you an actual idea of your total cost upfront, before you even have your labs drawn. No guesswork or surprise bills in the mail.
We made this process decision after recognizing a changing response from insurance companies in terms of patients receiving higher charges than expected and the hassle from those companies. This will lower your costs overall and simplify your care process.
At each lab appointment, we will provide an estimated charge and require a 60% down payment. About one month later, once we receive billing from Quest and/or LabCorp, we will notify you of the final amount and send an invoice for your records, which you may submit to insurance or a health share for reimbursement if desired. Any remaining balance is due within 72 hours. After that, any unpaid amount will be automatically charged to the card on file.
