New Client Bill Lab Process Begins May 1st: Lower Costs, Fewer Surprises

Beginning May 1, 2025, all labs ordered by Sanctuary Functional Medicine providers through Quest or LabCorp will be billed through our new Client Bill Process.

Insurance Billing vs Client Billing: What You Need to Know

  • Many insurance companies will not cover the cost of labs ordered by us because we are Functional and Out of Network.
  • The insurance price of labs is often 2-6 times our client bill price.
    • If you have a deductible to meet, you will be paying that marked up price due to billing through insurance.
    • Even if you don’t have a deductible, your copay may still be higher due to the insurance markup as well.
  • When billing through insurance, we cannot predict the final cost of labs.
  • When billing through our Client Bill Process, you will receive an estimated invoice that is usually within 5-10% of the final charge. This would give you an actual idea of your total cost upfront, before you even have your labs drawn. No guesswork or surprise bills in the mail.

We made this process decision after recognizing a changing response from insurance companies in terms of patients receiving higher charges than expected and hassle from those companies.  We believe this will lower your costs overall and simplify your care process.

We will provide an estimated charge of which we expect a 60% down-payment. Upon our receipt of billing from Quest and/or LabCorp approximately 1 month later, we will notify you of the final charge amount and send you an invoice that you may submit to insurance for reimbursement if you so choose. You will have 72 hours to pay any remaining balance by your method of choice.  If there is any remaining unpaid balance after 72 hours, we will auto-charge your card on file.
