A Start to your Healthy Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving time is many people’s favorite time of the year, but to others, it can be daunting and stressful, especially when going through specific health treatments, which often come with specific diets. However, the key to sticking to your healthy dietary regimen during this time of year is balance. It is important to gauge what will work best for you.
Are you the kind of person who can deviate from your plan for a day or two and hop right back on track? Or do you struggle when you deviate to feel like you are too far gone, and it takes a while to find the motivation to return to the plan? Assess what has worked for you in the past, and how you can bring it back into this holiday season.
To not restrict yourself to the point of feeling deprived and affecting your joy during Thanksgiving, plan out some ideas for foods you still enjoy, but can turn into a healthier version to help keep you on track and motivated even after the holiday! Our Registered Dietitian Nutritionist compiled a few ideas for you in our Sanctuary Thanksgiving Recipe Guide that you can download here (hyperlink the guide). Everything in the guide is Gluten Free! If you are still struggling to modify recipes to your dietary needs, please reach out to your dietitian via the patient portal, for more specific ideas.
Remember, this holiday is one to spend time with loved ones, enjoy food that fills you up and nourishes you, and find rest and peace in the power of being thankful for what God has granted yesterday, today, and for many more to come!
