Despite the obvious nature of the idea, until recent research, only practitioners of functional medicine had supported the (apparently outrageous) notion that certain nutrients can increase neural connectivity in the brain.
Researchers looked at a number of nutrition markers found in high levels of beneficial nutrients in the Mediterranean diet. They include omega 3’s, some omega 6’s, carotenes, lycopene, riboflavin (B2), folate, B12, and Vitamin D. All these are old favorites at Sanctuary. Theresearchers also noted that the nutrients appear to work synergistically, to work better when many varieties are present than when only one nutrient is available at a time. Each of these nutrients help out in many other ways, but in this case they all appear to assist each other in making your brain more efficient, allowing you to remember more and process information more effectively.
As we at Sanctuary Functional Medicine work to help patients live healthier, more abundant lives, we often measure how much of these nutrients a patient has so that we may optimize how much the patient has in future, allowing many patients to heal in both mind and body. We are glad to offer the best of medical science to you, to aid you in seeking a healthier, more abundant life, to provide healing for God’s glory.
