Day of 7 of “The 12 Days of a Sanctuary Functional Christmas”
“Seven Favorite Health Stories”
All new for 2019:
Today, on this seventh day, I will highlight seven of my Favorite Health Stories of the Year. There’s a little bit of something for most everyone.
1
Introduction: Mold Symptoms and Treatment Guide
(announcing our new online mold toxicity guide)
“We are thrilled to share our new Sanctuary Mold Guide: A Primer with those who are suffering from mold toxicity. While the full guide is available on its own website or to our patients (extended version), you can read a portion here. We hope this work contributes to your living a healthier more abundant life.”
Let’s Talk Mold: Fundamentals of Environmental Assessment
(Takeaways from the ISEAI 2019 Inaugural Conference May 2019.
Day 1 with Michael Schrantz CIEC, CMI, BPI-BA/EP)
” This makes the second opportunity to hear Michael Schrantz speak on this topic of assessing our environments for health concerns. The past Shoemaker conference in January and this ISEAI conference combined to provide a wealth of healthy home information. With 22 years in the field of indoor environmental quality and building science, he had a lot to offer (and attempt to squeeze into his time slot). His website is environmentalanalytics.net/abut-us and his radio show is iepradio.com.”
(part 1 of series on spiritual depression by Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones)
” Psalms 42:5 and 42:11
The Psalms are revelations of God’s truth in “terms of human experience”. We hear the inner struggles of God’s people, always the honest feelings. In Psalm 42, these verses reflect spiritual depression. David was unhappy in 42 and 43, in some form of trouble. This condition of spiritual depression was not confined to David’s day, but is common today. We are to look first at Bible teaching and then at principles from Biblical illustrations for the answers to such emotional turmoil. This is done to both help those in it and to prevent their depression from being a negative witness towards Christ (I wonder if this places more guilt on the already guilty conscious?). “
“Why should we care about the bodies which convey our eternal souls about this world? Won’t they be renewed in heaven anyway? Aren’t we supposed to focus on the eternal things rather than worldly things?
Romans 8:29 could be used to argue that we are to focus our energies on spiritual transformation so that we can be made into the likeness of Christ as could other verses urging spiritual transformation. However, working for the eternal does not mean ignoring or intentionally harming the physical body crafted for us by our loving Creator. There are several reasons Christians should care for their physical bodies which are so intimately connected to our spiritual bodies.”
Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen Cancer Edition
(Reminder of this online site’s resources for those concerned about their health)
“Sometimes it is better to share other’s work rather than try to re-create the wheel. In this case, I want to share the Environmental Working Group’s top 12 cancer triggering chemicals found in everyday products. Our society constantly debates climate change and environmental conservation. For some reason, we ignore how we are poisoning our world and ourselves with a long list of untested chemicals. “
“JAMA Network’s study results from 2019 estimated that 10.8% of the 40,000 adults who participated in the study have food allergies and another 8% believe they have allergies. At our functional medicine clinic, we are by no means surprised at this study’s findings, nor the summary conclusion by the authors. On the other hand, while we agree with the findings, we disagree the actions they conclude to be necessary; we disagree with their statement that healthcare providers should extensively test patients and weed out those who are not“really” allergic so they don’t avoid foods unnecessarily (Gupta 2019).”
“There are no words poignant enough with which to thank any doctor who has given your life back to you! My quest for just the right doctor who could understand my medical issues proved exceedingly frustrating – until God helped me find Dr. Eric Potter and Sanctuary Functional Medicine. I would hope all people who are afflicted with difficult-to-diagnose illnesses could find this Sanctuary and have their health and inner peace restored as I have! Not only this, but through Dr. Potter and his team, my Joy of Life has returned because I have the energy needed and the zip returned which is my true personality! The only way I can repay this “Sanctuary” is through my prayers to which I am faithful because of their well-deserved gratitude!” (J.A.B., Ann Arbor, M.I.)”
