Proverbs 11:27 ESV
Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it.

In searching for God, man not only fulfills his duty but brings himself much benefit. When he searches for trouble, though, he will find it. He will not usually like the results of finding it.
God’s word has a consistent message: seek God above all else, because He is God and therefore more important than anything else ever could be. Man should seek God with his heart, mind, soul, and strength (Matthew 22:36-40). Man should hold God and His word before their eyes at all times and in all manners (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). This mandate is an incredibly important part of Christianity.
Men, however, seek evil, seek trouble. They look for the evil of the world, and, as this verse says, they find it. The man who jumps into a lion pit and dares the lions to eat him most definitely has himself to blame.
Therefore, seek good and not evil; seek righteousness and not evil; seek God and not the world.
God bless.
