With the holidays coming very soon, have a plan for visiting or not visiting moldy, relative’s homes.
Moldy Realities That You Need To Know
Besides helping our patients work through getting mold toxins out of their bodies and their homes, we help them make decisions about living a recovered life, which means helping them get back into life’s activities without getting another disrupted mold exposure. This is especially true over the coming holidays. Unless you’re bringing the entire family to your house this year you are faced with a decision.
You need a general sense how moldy are going to be the homes in which you will be visiting during the holidays. Some may be perfectly mold free and safe. Some may be mildly moldy and tolerable with some adjustments. Others are, let’s just say it, not safe for you. With that in mind, family visits or holiday traditions will require adjustments that not everyone will understand.
Start with either a mental assessment or actual testing of the homes that you plan to visit over the holidays. If you’ve gotten sick in the home before, it’s likely going to happen again. And consider where you are in recovery, if you can tolerate a small set back. Discuss the situation with us in a visit if you need help.
Once you make a decision, talk with other family members explaining the situation and stick to a plan to keep yourself healthier.
