Proverbs 11:20
Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the Lord, but those of blameless ways are his delight.

That God takes delight in goodness and in beauty should be evident from a simple glance at the natural world or at your family. Sure, there are imperfections and cracks in the beauty, but God made a wondrous world. How encouraging, then, should it be to the man of blameless ways when he hears that such men are His delight? Conversely, God despises evil: He despises those whose “crooked hearts” lead them to deception, bending and breaking the truth to fit their desires. He names such men “whitewashed tombs” (Matthew 23:27).
We were once all lost in such sin, lost in iniquity, but God offers redemption- as Ezekiel 18:21 says, “But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.” How great is the difference this change spans! From a “abomination” before God He raises us up to make us His delight, for, as readers of last week’s post on the Proverbs will remember, God is ever bringing us farther into the blameless way.
God bless.
