Proverbs 11:21
Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.

Nowadays, generational security is an endeavor constantly on the edge of toppling under the pressure of economic trouble, political turmoil, and the difficulties of everyday life. God offers a better alternative: He promises to His people that their offspring will be delivered, no ifs, ands, or buts. Inheritance forms a crucial part of the Old Testament narrative- whether it’s the allotment of land to the tribes in Joshua 13-19, the passage of the crown from David to Solomon to Rehoboam in 1 Kings 1 & 12, or the story of Ahab and Naboth in 1 Kings 21. God promises a yet greater legacy than any of these in Proverbs 11:21- the legacy of a Godly man and the protection of God upon his descendants.
The wicked, meanwhile, will not go unpunished. They may, as Psalm 73 observed, go about their way in apparent prosperity for a little while. They may, as the story of the rich man as Lazarus indicates (Luke 16:19-31), live well and die in their old age. They will not go unpunished though, whether in this life or in the next. God has promised, and God will do as He promised.
God bless.
