Basic Rules for Environmental Mold Detox
Introduction
Receiving a diagnosis of mold toxicity both relieves and overwhelms those already exhausted, confused, and battered by this stealthy enemy. The diagnosis often concludes months to years of uncertainty, fear, and even shame. Some have spent countless hours going from one doctor to the next without answers. They may have been told, “It’s all in your head”. Knowing the enemy is a relief. On the other hand, the real battle begins with the revelation, and victory isn’t easily obtained. Not only does your body need detox but your entire environmental life as well. It is a daunting undertaking.
Detox Your Environment
The regimen for ridding the toxins from your body is complicated. Keeping up with the regimen while engaging in a seek and destroy mission against environmental mold can seem like too much. Though overwhelmed, this environmental seek and destroy mission stands as a critical step upon which your physical recovery depends.
You MUST “seek and destroy” the mold enemy!
As long as mold continues nearby, you will not get better. The best binders used as body detox only keep you dog paddling if your environment remains moldy. Your home, your car, your work, and your belongings all require attention. Mold can hide in a million places.
Step-By-Step Approach
How on earth do you begin detoxing your life? First, it is one step at a time, day by day. You won’t get it all done in one swoop. Second, a systematic approach is necessary with each step. Third, diligence and consistency are your friends.
While each mold affected person’s detox journey is unique, you will find the following rules helpful. When it comes to the “step by step,” I mean that you prioritize the next step and get it done. Don’t look too far ahead and don’t try to do everything at once. You’ll become despairing of ever finishing.
- Find the mold, if possible.
You must look high and low, far and wide.
- Obtain professional mold removal.
Remove what you see and what you don’t see. The visible is usually easier. The invisible is more annoying. Spores and mold toxins can hide in porous materials like furniture, toys, paper, and other objects. Some materials can be remediated with cleaners or essential oils. Others must go away.
- Retest your environment after the clean-up is completed.
Life Geography Consideration
When it comes to a systemic approach, I mean both geographically and logically. Work your way through the geography of your house room by room. Work through the locations of your life such as work, gym, school, and church. Wherever you spend your hours could be a potential source of the toxicity. Logically work through belongings – donations, trash, salvage. Biocides of both a chemical AND an essential oil nature can empower you to save many things from the first two destinies. Work through your life geography and think through your possessions in a logical fashion in determining the appropriate mold removal procedure.
Ongoing Diligence Required
Finally, mold detox of your environmental life is not a one-and-done kind of deal. Diligence and consistency using a “mold radar” are critical. Learning what stores are safe (grocery stores and big box stores may not be safe) and taking necessary precautions limits repeat exposures that can trigger more symptoms. Learning what other chemicals may set you off requires a consistent and systematic process of vetting furniture or clothes. Vacations will likely require another layer of precaution so you don’t end up sick from a week at the beach. Set up a mold radar and a mold prevention process and stick with it.
In Conclusion
I look forward to expanding what a life fought against mold looks like in terms of tactics and strategies. For now, these simple rules can go a long way in getting you started on the road to recovery while repatterning your life to prevent future mold illness.

Hi! Are you, yourself, knowing you are ill (yet being the only one who knows where everything is and what is of importance to be tested) doing the room to room search and toss slowly yourself? I know some of us don’t really have a choice. I know there are masks out there. How do you begin to tackle the overwhelm?
