While those in the natural world of Medicine can frequently demean the contributions of conventional medicine, I wanted to point out that cases like these do show us that there is a role for conventional medicine.
This little one was rescued by the advances of life support and cardiovascular surgery. As you can imagine, children who are born with an external heart do not survive long. In this case, herculean efforts allowed a child to bypass a death sentence for at least a few years.
The issue is that the functional medicine world has a lot to offer in terms of prevention, but there are still times when the intensity of conventional medicine can save lives.
I pray that this little life does continue to do well.
